Axact Karachi raid: US State Dept certificate among seized docs

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), in two separate raids at Axact’s head office here on Tuesday, confiscated documented record including degrees and certificates of various universities and a sample of US State Department’s verification certificate.

The Cooperative Crime Circle of FIA raided the office of Pakistani IT company and confiscated few computer hard drives and documents following a similar raid by the agency’s Cybercrime Circle, which took into custody two data server computers.

Speaking to media representatives, Cooperative Crime Circle’s Deputy Director Kamran Atta said that no arrests were made despite confiscating some questionable documents from the office of the software company.

Later, it was revealed by sources that the IT department of Axact’s head office has been sealed by the Cooperative Crime circle of FIA.

US State Department’s response

The US State Department late on Tuesday said it had made no agreement on document attestation with the company.

It added that investigation on the company’s practices are currently underway in Pakistan.
